Frequently asked questions
Getting started
What do I need to use Kinship?
An iPhone with iOS 17 or later. Kinship is free: no ads and no in-app purchases.
How do I sign in?
Enter your email and type the six-digit code we send you, or continue with Apple or Google. There is no password to remember.
The code did not arrive.
Check your spam folder and wait a minute. You can ask for a new code after 30 seconds; each new code replaces the previous one.
How do I change the language?
Kinship speaks English, Czech and Ukrainian and follows your iPhone’s language. To change it, go to Profile → Language — the app switches straight away.
Does Kinship work without an internet connection?
Yes. Everything is on your phone first; changes made offline are sent as soon as you are back online.
Wishlists and gifts
Who can see my wishlist?
You decide in Profile → Privacy: friends, chosen people or only you. A single wish can be made private, and a public link shows only public wishes.
Will my friend see the gift I planned?
No. Gift plans are hidden from the person they are for, everywhere in the app and in notifications.
Can someone without the app see my wishlist?
Yes. Share a public link and it opens as an ordinary web page showing only your public wishes. You can switch the link off at any time.
Calendar and reminders
When does Kinship remind me?
Before birthdays and events: two weeks, a week and two days ahead, with a button straight to the shop for the wish you chose.
Notifications are not arriving.
On your iPhone open Settings → Notifications → Kinship and allow notifications, then check that a Focus mode is not silencing them. In the app, the Notifications screen lets you choose what you are told about.
Friends and sharing
How do I add a friend?
Show them your QR code or send them an invite link. Once they accept, you see each other’s wishlists according to your privacy settings.
Account and data
Where is my data stored?
On servers in the European Union. We show no ads, use no tracking tools and never sell data.
Can I get a copy of my data?
Yes. Write to us from the email address of your account and we will send you your data in a machine-readable format (JSON).
Deleting your account
-
1
Open Profile → Manage account
In the Kinship app.
-
2
Tap Delete account
Choose a reason; a comment is optional.
-
3
Confirm with the code
Enter the six-digit code we email you.
The account is blocked at once and erased for good within 7 working days, together with your wishes, events, gift plans, friendships and photos. If you can no longer open the app, write to us from your account’s email address and we will delete it for you.
